Sunday 16th August 4:50pm
St Lukes Hall, St Luke's Pl, Cheltenham GL53 7HP
A practical, hands-on workshop with Anarchy in the Ukulele
What does it take to turn a room full of ukulele players into a band people actually want to watch? In this hour we'll share how we do it, and how you can do it with your own group, whether you're four friends in a front room or an established club looking to sharpen up.
We'll work through:
Choosing the right songs: what suits a uke group, and what to leave well alone
Making them your own: simple ways to twist an arrangement so it doesn't sound like everyone else's
Harmonies: how to find them, teach them, and keep them in tune
Parts and layers: building texture so you're more than "everyone strumming the same thing"
Performance: the difference between a list of songs and a set that entertains
You'll leave with practical ideas to take straight back to your own group. No standard required, all levels welcome. Bring your ukulele.
