What makes Hawaiian music sound Hawaiian? Using a traditional Hawaiian song as our guide, you will discover some of the characteristic elements of Hawaiian music. Together, we will explore the song’s accompaniment, including traditional strumming patterns and vamps, and bring it to life with vocal harmonies. Along the way, we will also take a look at the Hawaiian language and its unique sound. The workshop offers an authentic introduction to the musical and cultural traditions of Hawaiʻi.
